Crosby had the fire in his game Wednesday, scoring the Penguins’ first two goals of the game and helped the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2. The Red Wings still lead the series 2-1, but the Penguins are right back in it.

Sidney Patrick Crosby was born on August 7, 1987. He began playing hockey on his own in his basement at two years old, where he destroyed his home dryer by constantly shooting at it.

He was the first pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and was one of the most highly regarded draft picks in hockey history. In his first season, he finished sixth in scoring with 102 points (39 goals, 63 assists).

In 2006-07, Crosby finished his second NHL campaign with 120 points to become the youngest scoring champion in NHL history (19 years, 244 days). With amazing 36 goals and 84 assists he captured the Art Ross Trophy.

That same season Sidney Crosby won the Hart Trophy as most valuable player in the NHL. He got 91 first-place votes and 1,225 points in a poll of Professional Hockey Writers' Association members. He also won the Lester B. Pearson Award as the most valuable player as determined by the NHL Players Association.
