Sports-moments.com, 18.05.08

Have you ever wondered which are the MLB baseball stadiums with the largest seating capacity? In this story we present and share our thoughts on three most imposing ballparks in the Major League Baseball.

1. Yankee Stadium, New York City

Home of New York Yankees MLB team

57,545 seats

Whatever you think of Yanks, you have got to recognise chills-inducing greatness that is Yankee Stadium. It is one of the most famous sports venues in the United States, due to its primary occupants having won more World Series championships than any other team. The said news is that it is expected to close in 2008, with the Yanks set to play in a new stadium in 2009.

2. Shea Stadium, New York

Home of New York Mets MLB team

57,333 seats

Another ballpark in New York City. It is the longtime home of the New York Mets, and one of the oldest stadiums in the National League, serving as home of the Mets since 1964. Shea Stadium is to be replaced in 2009 by Citi Field, which is currently under construction in the parking lot behind Shea's left field.

3. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles

Home of Los Angeles Dodgers MLB team

56,000 seats

This stadium is located adjacent to Downtown Los Angeles. Dodger Stadium was privately financed at a cost of $23 million in 1962. Interesting fact: Dodger Stadium is the only current MLB park (excluding the most recently-built parks) that has never changed its capacity. It has always held 56,000 fans, due to a conditional-use permit limiting its capacity.
