The Detroit Red Wings, stunned to have lost Game 5 at home in triple overtime, held off the onrushing Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2, at Mellon Arena to win the Cup in six games. And so Hockeytown is once again title town. For the 11th time.

1935–36 NHL season
The 1935–36 NHL season was the 19th season of the National Hockey League. The Detroit Red Wings defeted the Toronto Maple Leafs in five games for the Stanley Cup.

1936–37 NHL season
The 1936–37 NHL season was the 20th season of the NHL. The Red Wings beat the New York Rangers three games to two in the final series.

1942–43 NHL season
The Stanley Cup finals featured the Detroit Red Wings beating the Boston Bruins 4-0 in the final series.

1949–50 NHL season
The 1949–50 NHL season was the 33rd season of the NHL. The Detroit Red Wings defeated the New York Rangers in seven games for the Stanley Cup.

1951–52 NHL season
The 1951–52 NHL season was the 35th season of the NHL. The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup by sweeping the Montreal Canadiens four games to none.

1953–54 NHL season
The James Norris Memorial Trophy made its debut this season and its first winner was Red Kelly of the Detroit Red Wings. The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Montreal Canadiens in seven games for the Stanley Cup.

1954–55 NHL season
The 1954–55 NHL season was the 38th season of the NHL. The Detroit Red Wings were the Stanley Cup winners as they beat the Montreal Canadiens four games to three in the best-of-seven final series.

1996–97 NHL season
Detroit Red Wings swept the Philadelphia Flyers in four games and won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 42 years.

1997–98 NHL season
The 1997–98 NHL season was the 81st regular season of the NHL. The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup by sweeping the Washington Capitals four games to none.

2001–02 NHL season
The 2001–02 NHL season was the 85th regular season of the NHL. The Detroit Red Wings won the best of seven final series 4–1 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

2007–08 NHL season
The Red Wings won their eleventh Stanley Cup on June 4, 2008 against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Finals by a score of 3-2.
