The Cubs are doing great this year. On Tuesday they snapped their second straight 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. This way, they improved to 21-8 at home. The Cubs are the only team in baseball yet to lose three in a row this season. But the Cubbies are »celebrating« historic achievement in the 2008 MLB season. This season will mark unbelievable 100 years since the Cubbies won the World Series.

The Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series championship since 1908 and have not appeared in a Series since 1945. Many excuses have been made over the years for the Cubs’ demise. Many believe in The Curse of the Billy Goat. More practical theories include the too-cozy dimensions of Wrigley Field and the club's poor front office decisions.

It is the longest title drought in all four of the major American professional sports leagues, which includes the NFL, the NBA, the NHL and the MLB. The funny thing is that the last Cubs World Series win occurred before those other three leagues even existed.
Will the Cubs end century-long drought? The fans certainly hope so.
